School background
Dubeduca is a language school based in Dubai offering English and Arabic language programmes to international students. The programmes advertised range from adults to juniors. The adult operation (16+ years old) offers intensive general English and Arabic lessons on the basis of 20, 25 or 30 hours per week. The school is also a registered IELTS centre. Junior course (10 – 20 years old) are short-stay in design and are offered in the summer and winter along with ‘mini-stay’ courses for 10–17-year-olds.

Role Overview
Reporting to the School Director, the Academic Manager is responsible for all aspects of teaching and learning. The Academic Manager (AM) is responsible to the School Director for the academic management of the school and for ensuring the teaching and learning component(s) of the programmes are delivered to the highest standards
Academic Director: Duties and Job Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities
Recruitment – interview and recruit all new teaching staff in liaison with the School Director
Induction – design and deliver an induction programme for new and returning staff
Teaching staff – ensure the development of a positive, enthusiastic team to deliver high-quality provision
Management – oversee the day-to-day management of all school programmes
Syllabus – design and implement an appropriate syllabus and weekly/daily lesson preparation templates including, where possible, links to excursions and activities
Quality – design and implement a teaching staff quality assurance programme to include observation and feedback; to give advice, guidance, and support to all teaching staff on academic matters
Resources – ensure the provision of adequate teaching and learning resources
Timetabling – ensure all teaching staff are allocated classes appropriately
CPD – design and implement a teaching staff CPD programme
Assessment – design and deliver a pre-course assessment for initial placement of students; to deliver oral assessment where required; organize external assessment where required
Certification – ensure all students receive an appropriate certificate detailing their level and abilities
Administration – ensure all teaching staff are familiar with required administrative procedures and school policies in liaison with the School Director
Accreditation – ensure appropriate external accreditation is achieved and maintained in liaison with the School Director
Support – ensure academic advice, guidance and support are given to individual students; liaise with Group Leaders and Agents on academic aspects where required; liaise with the School Director on any welfare or pastoral care issues
