Associate Producer : Job Responsibilities and Work Requirements

• Pitch, research, write and produce original story ideas for TV and video programming that will engage and inform the audience, deepen our community connections and elevate a range of voices.
• Chase, organize and book interviews, develop program content, write and vet scripts, edit video.
• Contribute to the development of the program’s lineup, including adding or removing items, and inputting information pertaining to story format, timing, supers or other relevant instructions.
• Liaise with control room teams to ensure all technical aspects of the program can be properly prepared and coded.
• As necessary, assist in taking the show to air from the control room, including communicating with staff in the field, studio or other locations.
• Present stories on-air as required.

Minimum Educational Qualifications Requirements : Associate Producer

• Ability to generate, pitch and pursue strong story ideas.
• Strong proven connection to the communities we serve in and around British Columbia.
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to chase and follow several stories at once, prioritizing and managing time.
• Strong broadcast writing and video editing skills, and experience working with a program lineup.
• Knowledge of television storytelling formats, and an ability to match those formats to raw content in order to craft creative and engaging TV items.
• Experience in graphic design/editing would be an asset.
• Experience in using smartboard or other smart screens would be an asset.
• Willingness to learn and tackle new tasks across all CBC platforms.
• Ability to forge positive team relationships and keen to work on a team that values collaboration and transparency.
• Strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture.
