Business Analyst : Job Responsibilities and Work Requirements
- Assists in planning and implementing business processes to support business objectives and considers the business implications of technology applied to the current and future environment.
- Responsible for business requirements determination and validation.
- Analyzes and composes testing and training documents.
- Performs gap/fit analysis of IT solutions to current and future business processes.
- Contributes to solving identified systems issues; liaises with surgery programs and IM/IT.
- Provides operational support for some surgical systems (e.g., the BC Surgical Patient Registry).
- Develops project plans and takes preventative and/or corrective action to ensure project implementation strategies and services continue to operate efficiently and effectively.
- Provides foundational information to support business cases for new initiatives.
- Liaises with vendors and provincial counterparts as required; in consultation with the Director, Surgical Projects makes decisions within the provincial arena on behalf of Fraser Health.
- Researches emerging trends/best practices in relevant fields.
Minimum Educational Qualifications Requirements : Business Analyst
Baccalaureate Degree in information systems, business or other health related disciplines, plus five to seven years related experience in areas of information systems, health care management and/or business systems analysis, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
Demonstrates the LEADS capabilities of Leads Self, Engages Others, Achieves Results, Develops Coalitions and supports Systems Transformation.
Professional/Technical Capabilities
- Demonstrated knowledge or requirements gathering, business process review and redesign, gap/fit analysis, product testing methodologies and systems implementations/upgrades.
- Meditech and/or Surgical Patient Registry experience is an asset.
- Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others both within and outside of the organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the IT project lifecycle.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Valid Class V BC Driver’s License; access to a vehicle for business use.
