About us

Pandora Services employ Support Workers and Care Aides that specialize in the complex care of individuals with disabilities, mental health issues and those in need of personalized supports in the Lower Mainland area. We are fun, rewarding, social and aspire to help our clients reach their maximum potential.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a qualified Support Workers and Care Aides with skills ranging from Personal Care supports and companionship, to crisis intervention and behavior management. We require an individual with a vehicle they can use for work and to support transportation for individuals when necessary (mileage reimbursements available), to be able to travel within the cities of Vancouver, Burnaby and Ti-cities, up-to-date on qualifications (CPR, crisis intervention etc.), a broad knowledge of Mental health disorders and management skills associated with same, experience with Autism, great communication skills and exceptional at building rapport.

General Duties

Pandora support staff provide personal, social, physical and emotional support to clients. They usually work in collaboration with community outreach programs and health teams. They assist the client and their families in need of rehabilitation and support services. To be effective, workers need good communication, interpersonal, time-management and organizational skills. As workers of Pandora Services, you will be expected to be able to effectively communicate with the clients, their families, co-workers, management and any other necessary people within the clients care team. Support workers are also expected to be effective in writing for reports, charting and other communication physically or digitally.

Personal Care

Community support workers provide personal care to clients who need support in activities such as grooming and feeding. They ensure clients live in a hygienic and healthy environment and assist them with household chores such as cooking and cleaning. When a client is on medication, the community support worker ensures the client takes his medicines as instructed. A community worker also arranges transportation for clients when needed.

Social and Leisure Activities

A community support worker ensures clients develop relationships with other members of a community by helping them maintain contact with friends, family and other community members. In a care facility, they might organize recreational activities to help residents form friendships. A support worker also develops individual activity plans according to the needs of each of his clients and ensures there is an amicable atmosphere during leisure time.

Encourage Independence

A community support worker helps clients become more independent in their everyday lives. For example, she might secure necessary training and counseling services such as seminars, workshops and support groups designed to help clients develop plans on how to live more independently. A community support worker also helps clients acquire opportunities such as employment to help them become more financially independent. In some cases, community support workers advocate on behalf of the client so they know their rights when it comes to legal or financial issues. Pandora Staff are expected to learn and know other community resources available that may assist our clients and be able to educate clients on them.

Evaluation of Community Programs

A community support worker monitors the progress of his clients by observing their daily activities. He files reports to his supervisor to determine what programs work best with particular types of clients. He also evaluates the effectiveness of certain programs and makes recommendations on ways to improve them.

Adaptability

Support workers understand that each client is an individual with specific needs based on their unique situation. Pandora staff will receive adequate training based on the individual client and will be able to translate their skills to the individualized care plan of the client. Pandora staff will be expected to effectively communicate with management the need for any further education/training if needed.
