Education Technician: Job Requirements
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm.
Essential Responsibilities
This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-06. At the GS-05 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-06. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds.
- Performing work in direct support of EES and its clients;
- Performing support work for the program office’s educational projects;
- Preparing handouts, presentations, and course syllabi from materials provided by faculty presenters or lecturers;
- Providing faculty/lecturers with guidelines for submission of required materials and follows up with faculty/lecturers who fail to meet these guidelines;
- Collaborating with all services and projects supported to track VA/non-VA employee registrations;
- Obtaining audiovisual requirements from presenters for courses and coordinates acquisition as necessary;
- Performing general project support work such as the collection, compilation, research, and/or tracking of data and project information related to education;
- Working collaboratively with the Project Manager or Learning Consultant to develop and establish the minimum standards by which education programs and/or projects will be evaluated;
- Working collaboratively with the Project Manager or Learning Consultant to determine the minimum standards of presentation content to meet those accreditation compliance requirements;
- Planning, designing, preparing, and delivering presentations on various topics to diverse audiences;

Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications and Competencies:
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-05: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: performing administrative duties in support of an office or program; taking responsibility and initiative; setting and meeting priorities; following through on commitments; safeguarding information; and organizing and using time and resources to achieve desired results. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. ~OR~A bachelor’s degree or four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college, or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business or technical school. An equivalent combination of specialized experience and post high school education as described that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. Experience must be detailed, and transcripts required.
